The Grand Theft Auto series is a film series directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas originally based upon the Grand Theft Auto V video game by Rockstar Games. The following three films were loosely based on other games in the franchise. The series is the second highest-grossing film series of all-time taking $10.66 billion at the box office, but the series is the most successful in Academy Award history in terms of both wins and nominations winning 39 of its 67 nominations.
